April Lockhart
April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July, started taking guitar and piano lessons at seven years old. Her interest in writing songs was ignited. At the age of 12 She composed her debut single called Different. When April was 14 years old, she devoted an enormous amount of time creating song ideas and perfecting the music. Then she began to take trips to write with her father in NY and LA. April was the month that she began to write about other issues in her book Take My Hand to help her friends who were dealing with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicide. Lockhart also has an ever-growing following as a lifestyle influencer and works for popular Clean Beauty company Ilia. The truth is that she was born with no left hand. This creates her unique. It's not the only thing about her. Lockhart's profile on Twitter doesn't ignore her being disabled however, it doesn't make a point of it. The message? that we are all a part of a multitude that our identities are complex and we're more than our physical selves. Lockhart says in a video interview with Lockhart via video "I don't think that is what defines me. It's not my intention to be an influencer on disability, because I've plenty to offer." The issue doesn't affect my everyday activities. I carry on the same way as I always do and have come up with my own methods to adjust. It's also part of me and I feel it's important to talk about. Lockhart who is an inspiration for self-acceptance in general and is currently on a lengthy road to reach this. Even so, Lockhart admits having moments when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance, and the clothes that showed her arms. She wears whatever she wants and proudly posts pictures of herself wearing the clothes she wears on social media. Self-love for her was a long process.
