Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on the 28th of October 1967 in Atlanta. Her grandfather, her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer, was one of the first Roberts to move to Atlanta. The Robertses' father was interested in theater from a young age. While he was a student in Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of numerous performances. He joined the Air Force. While stationed at Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a production with Betty Lou Bredemus. The couple got married in 2005 and they had their first baby, Eric Anthony in 1956. Walter attended Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana following his departure from the Air Force in 1957. In 1960 the family moved from Louisiana to Decatur Georgia where Walter began working with Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter as well as Betty Lou began producing a children's TV show in the city of Decatur, Georgia titled Bum Bum and His Buddies. The production was funded by the couple themselves. They also founded the Actors and Writers Workshop in the same year, which ran for 6 years. They also had Lelisa Billingsley (also called Lisa) as well as Julia (also called Julie) at the time.
